It is a very popular saying that, have your breakfast like a King, lunch like a Prince and dinner like a Pauper. Well, it's not just for the sake of quotes but it actually works on your healthier part of your body in terms of nutrition eating right food at the right time can work wonders for the human gut health and metabolism. Same goes for having early dinner.

Eating early and light dinner aids in weight loss. If we sneak back into our ancestral lives, we find that people used to have simple food and eat dinner before 7:00p.m.The nutritional idea behind having early dinner is to aid good digestion. Good digestion means good weight loss!!The calories we consume, if not digested get stored in the form of fats in our body. Our body goes in the state of ketosis, (i.e. when stored fat is utilised for energy) during nights. Therefore to enable good digestion and achieve satiety level one must eat early and timely dinner.

The next important benefit of eating early last meal of the day is to maintain good heart health. People suffering from hypertension, diabetes, thyroid, etc tend to stuff themselves with sodium content in the food at night (as Indian food is rich in salt) and develop a greater risk of blocking the blood vessels leading to water retention and bloating. This also interferes with good and sound sleep. The blood pressure of a body ideally drops by 10% during the phase when the body is at rest. But, if salt content is not controlled during the end of the day, it may consistently keep the blood pressure on rise and may lead to fatal damages in the body. Early dinner consumption can give body time to digest the food well and prevent the untimely cardiac damage.

Eating early dinner does not mean to constrict the nutritional content of the food or starve yourself but to consume adequately balanced diet between 6:00pm to 7:00pm. It is very important to fuel your body with sufficient amount of food during the day, so that the body is not deprived of nutrients at the end of the day. Hunger pranks during the end of the day could be terminated if the body is full of satiety and food during the day.

One should start with first day and the body gets adapted to the pattern of having early dinner every day. To boost sleep, heart health and weight loss, this phenomenon of eating last meal of the day early in time acts as a boon to human body’s health.

Sample diet for 3 days


Day 1

Early morning: lemon, honey, ginger juice, apple cider vinegar in a glass of warm water
Breakfast: Cereal and milk with 2 walnuts

Evening (4:00pm): Fresh orange juice

Day 2

Lunch: Paneer Pita with lemonade
Evening (4:00 pm): Milk shake
Dinner: BBQ Paneer salad with fresh veggies

Day 3

Early Morning: lemon, honey, ginger juice, apple cider vinegar in a glass of warm water
Breakfast: Vegetable oats and Purify juice from PitaPit
Lunch: Chicken tikka Pita with lemonade
Evening (4:00pm): Green Tea
Dinner: Veg clear soup and any choice of Pita salad from Pitapit
